RESEARCH & AND REPORTS

UPHWO is committed to producing and disseminating high-quality research and reports on various topics related to our work and impact in Burundi, as well as the challenges and opportunities for the people and communities we serve and support. We have three main types of research and reports, which are:

  • Research papers: These are the papers that present the results and findings of our research projects, which are conducted by our staff, consultants, or partners, using rigorous and ethical methods and data. Our research papers cover various themes and issues, such as health, education, protection, environment, and governance, and aim to generate evidence, knowledge, and recommendations for our programs and policies, as well as for other stakeholders and actors.
  • Policy papers: These are the papers that provide our analysis and perspectives on the policies and plans of the government and other institutions, in relation to our work and impact in Burundi. Our policy papers also propose our suggestions and solutions for improving the policies and plans, and for enhancing the collaboration and coordination among the different actors and sectors.
  • Evaluation reports: These are the reports that document and assess the performance and impact of our programs and activities, using quantitative and qualitative methods and indicators. Our evaluation reports also identify the lessons learned and the best practices from our programs and activities, and provide recommendations for improvement and scaling up.

How we produce

We produce our research and reports through various processes and mechanisms, such as:

  • Our research and evaluation unit: This is the unit within our organization that is responsible for planning, designing, conducting, and managing our research and evaluation projects, in collaboration with our program and management teams, and our external partners and consultants. The unit also ensures the quality, validity, and reliability of our research and evaluation methods and data, and the compliance with the ethical and professional standards and principles.
  • Our research and evaluation committee: This is the committee within our organization that is responsible for reviewing, approving, and endorsing our research and evaluation proposals, reports, and publications, before they are disseminated and published. The committee also provides guidance and feedback to our research and evaluation unit, and monitors and evaluates the implementation and impact of our research and evaluation projects.
  • Our research and evaluation partners: These are the external partners and consultants that we collaborate with for our research and evaluation projects, such as academic institutions, research organizations, think tanks, and experts. We select our research and evaluation partners based on their expertise, experience, and reputation, and we establish clear and transparent terms and conditions for our collaboration.
