Humanitarian Emergencies and Crisis Response and Early Recovery

UPHWO believes that humanitarian emergencies, such as conflicts, disasters, or epidemics, require a rapid and effective response to save lives and protect human dignity. We also believe that humanitarian response should not only address the immediate needs of the affected people, but also lay the foundations for their recovery and resilience. We work in various domains such as protection, health, education, livelihoods, and environment. We have one main program that aims to:

  • Provide humanitarian assistance and early recovery support to the affected people: We help the affected people to cope with and recover from the humanitarian emergencies, by providing them with life-saving and life-sustaining assistance, such as food, water, shelter, health care, and protection. We also support their early recovery, by restoring their basic services, livelihoods, social cohesion, and governance. We also prepare them for future shocks, by enhancing their capacities, resources, and coping mechanisms.

How we help

We are United Partners for Humanitarian Welfare (UPHWO), a non-governmental organization that works to improve the lives and well-being of people in Burundi, especially those affected by poverty, conflict, displacement, or marginalization. We have one main program that aims to:

  • Humanitarian assistance and early recovery support: We empower the affected people to survive and recover from the humanitarian emergencies. We provide them with humanitarian assistance and early recovery support, and we coordinate with other actors to ensure a comprehensive and integrated response.
